End of Summer

Greenstone has enjoyed the company of many new guests and rave reviews. We are celebrating our first summer by offering an Indian Summer 2-for-1 special in the month of September. Stay one night (Sunday-Wednesday) at the posted summer rate and the next night is free! Sometimes our best weather comes after Labor Day. Enjoy this beautiful time of "Indian Summer" at the Greenstone Inn.

Another addition. We have a beautiful new fiber optic chandelier hanging in our entry way.

Landscaping award. The Newport Chamber honored Greenstone Inn and landscaper Holly with an award for business beautification in July.

Ken Hansen's Gallery. Artist Ken Hansen has opened his gallery across the street from Greenstone Inn.

May 21. GO!

One of many finishing touches.

Cleaning, maintenance and WiFi installation were still in progress when the first early arrivals checked in. So was the picture hanging. And the soft drink installers were still at work in the community room.
The boss burned late night oil installing the last of the TVs, delivered only this morning.
But now, the countdown is over. Greenstone Inn opened for business on May 21, 2010, as promised!

May 19...Ready, Set...

Final elevator inspection (check!)
Fire protection inspection (check!)
WiFi installation (check!)
Has the DirectTV installer finished? What do you mean--we have to phone in the code for every television set?

The whole Newport Fire Department and volunteer team showed up to tour the Greenstone Inn.

Fire inspectors are impressed with the tankless water heaters.

Countdown - 5/18/10

Opening May 21!
Final housekeeping flurry has full staff jumping.
Last minute checklists cope with missing/mal-fitting bedspreads, truckloads of construction debris, repairs dusting up ready-to-go rooms, etc.
When is that ice machine arriving? Hasn't the broken window been fixed?
What about the wall art?
Speaking of Greenstone art...in keeping with the keep-it-green spirit, much of the wall art is reclaimed from the old Viking's Motel, just as the wooden Viking's sign was re-painted for Greenstone Inn.
The hallways are being hung with works placed by local artists: a kind of Greenstone gallery.
Artist/photographer Ken Hansen is placing the displays.
